Cities: Skylines 2 is aiming to be a more realistic city-building experience with more freedom to create the city of your dreams. The game is set to release sometime in 2023 and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also have access to the game on launch day at no additional cost. While the trailer does not show any actual gameplay footage, Mariina Hallikainen, the CEO of Colossal Order, stated that there will be additional tools for fully realized economic systems, advanced modding tools, and more in the sequel. The game will feature advanced construction capabilities with numerous customization possibilities, building upon the lessons learned from the first game and taking them to new heights.
With the goal of “revolutionizing the city-builder genre again,” Cities: Skylines 2 is highly anticipated by the community, which has seen five million new players join the Cities: Skylines community in the past year alone.
